Catalogue:
The only catalogue of icons painted by me can be found on this website. Original works and reproductions (prints on painted wood) are available through my online store or this website .
Commissioning an icon:
I have found that any commissions to come my way work best when the good Lord sees fit to direct my spiritual growth through the message of the Soul I am directed to paint. In other words, I can not paint any sainted soul "on demand" - it is too much like work and I do not enjoy, nor do I benefit from the commission.
I will take all requests for commissions under serious and prayerful consideration. My response, based on the spiritual direction I receive, may be to direct you to some of my earlier works, to direct you to another iconographer, or, I may indeed accept your commission.
Process:
All icons are painted on cabinet quality wood panels prepared with multiple layers of gesso. I can paint in either acrylic gouache or egg tempera media. My personal preference is acrylic gouache. Egg tempera icons will be more expensive and take longer because of the materials, technique and drying time required to produce the icons. Halos and gold ornamentation are 23.5 karat gold. All icons are coated with a protective varnish. With proper care the icons can last for many years.
All icons are hand-made and consequently, no two are alike. The icons reflect the humanness and the hand of the painter.
Every icon is infused with prayer during the entire process, from the research, through the design and painting.
Please bear in mind that the process can not be rushed. If you desire to have your icon by a certain date/event, please contact me months (I repeat - many months) in advance.
Please contact me to discuss your preferences and price quotes. I will do as much as possible to facilitate your request so long as it does not seriously compromise the purposes and meanings of iconography.
